The adventure continues…

If you’re here, it’s because you are someone we know and love and want to share our adventure with. Every family is special, and we are so glad you are part of ours.

As of November 2024, we are officially approved and waiting to adopt a newborn in Michigan. We could become parents by being chosen by the birth mother, or through the ‘Safe Haven’ program, which allows parents to anonymously, and legally, surrender their newborn within 72 hours of birth.

While there are no guarantees, we are optimistic and excited!

Many of you want to follow along and support us, which we lovingly welcome. Knowing our journey is unique, we’ve listed several ways in which you can support, follow along, and be a part of our journey.

So say hi, check in, and do what makes you happy and comfortable. We appreciate you.

Love,

Garrett + Nick

Ways to support

  • Registry

Since there is a chance we could become parents through the abovementioned ‘Safe Haven’ program, we’ve made a registry of some essentials we would like to have on hand in the event we get an unexpected, can’t plan for, exciting, and scary call that a newborn is available to be picked up right away!

  • Family cookbook

We are continuing a Shotwell family tradition of uniting our community through a cookbook compiled of recipes, stories, and photos of cherished memories and yummy foods.

We’d love any and all to participate by sharing your favorite ‘Garrett’ and/or ‘Nick’ story, along with a photo and a recipe.

Once compiled, you’ll be able to purchase at cost.

Our profile

For curious minds, feel free to check out our adoption profile, which has more letters and photos. It was a joy to put together. We are working with Adoption Partners of Michigan.

One thing we love about our adoption agency is that they take the time to provide birth mothers with every choice that is available and support each person through education, counseling, and resources.

Love,

Garrett + Nick
